What
is unallocated space?
The unallocated space
does not belong to any partition. As it has not been allocated, it does not
exist in Windows. So you cannot write data on this unallocated space. If you
want to use this space, you have to use this unallocated space to extend the
existing partition or create a new partition.
The lost or deleted
partition will be shown as unallocated. The partition lost for various reasons,
such as accident deletion, incorrect partitioning, virus or malware infection,
sudden power loss or the newly drive.

Use the Disk Management
Open the control
panel>system and security>administrative in Windows 7, click to open the
Disk Management. You will see unallocated space here if there is.
Right-click the
unallocated volume and choose New Simple Volume from the right-click menu.Click
the next button.
Set the size of new
volume. The size id equal to the entire disk space by default. All the
unallocated space will been turn into a single new partition. If you want to
set a size less than it, the remaining space remains show as unallocated. Click
Next button.
Assign a drive letter
for the new volume you create. Click next button.
Click finish button to
complete creating the new volume. The windows will format the disk. After the
system has formatted this disk, you can close the Disk Management.
How
to expanding partitions?
You can also use the
unallocated space to expand a partition. You can operate in Disk management.
Right-click the
existing partition which you want to extend, choose Extend Volume from the
menu. It will pop up the Simple Volume Wizard. Click Next to continue.
Specify Volume Size.
You should set a value between the maximum disk space and minimum disk space.
Click next to continue.
Assign a drive letter
for this volume. Click next.
Format the partition.
To store data on the volume you newly create, you must format it first. Choose
the file system, allocation unit size and volume label, and check Perform a
quick format. Click next to continue.
Click finish to
complete this process.
