Windows recover deleted files from automatic upgrade

Occasionally, there is a message pop up to ask you to upgrade to Windows upgrade. It is automatic or even forced to upgrade. Most of the time, we cannot realize what happened until we found some of files have lost. Now you have know that upgrade Windows will delete some of your files. So you should keep in mind to back up your data before you are planning to upgrade windows. AS the C drive is the system drive, if you upgrade the windows system, or will reposition the drive C. 
Therefore, the files on drive C will be deleted. The correct way is to back up the entire drive C before upgrade Windows. Many people will place all their edit files such as work files, thesis on the desktop and do not copy it to other drives, while the desktop files are all kept in the C drive. If you upgrade the windows, all the files on desktop will also be missing. But the question is: Can we still recover deleted files from upgrade?
First, you can try to find the lost files in your computer. Check if your files are in the following paths :
