The system drive,
usually is the C drive, not only contains some of your private files, but also
include all your system files and programs. They take up a lot of your memory
space, you can clean the unused files and caches regularly to free up the
space. But you should pay attention not to delete some files and folders. These
files are the Windows default files which is necessary for your computer’s
normal running. When you clean your system drive, you should leave them alone
on the drive.
1.
Programs Files and Programs and Program Files (x86)
Open the system drive,
you can always see these two file folders. But most of people do not know what
they do. When you install a software, you should click the file with the suffix
of exe. and take several steps to complete the installation process. In this
process, the software should create an entry for itself in the Programs Files
Folders and perform some other command which it needs for its work. After you
have installed the program successfully, you can find the folders of this
installed program. Therefore, Programs Files and Programs and Program Files
(x86) contains all the files and configuration information which the programs
need to work normally. If they are messed, corrupted, or deleted, the software
and program cannot run normally. In that case, you can only reinstall them.
If you want to clean or
remove a program, the proper way is to uninstall them in Programs and Features,
or run a data wiping software. If you only delete folders in the programs
files, there are still some other files related residue on the drive.
2.
System 32
You can find the folder
of system 32 in Windows folder. It is necessary for the windows to run
normally, which contains a large number of DLL files. If you mess or delete
files in this folder, you may have to reinstall system.
3.
Page files
Page files are hidden
by default in the system, so if you want to view them, you should uncheck them
in the File options. Click View tab and uncheck the option of Hide protected
operating system files. But you are recommended not to unhide them in case they
are deleted by mistake.
4.
Other program and system files
To avoid data loss and
malfunction of your programs and system, you have to avoid messing and deleting
these files. When you clean the system drive, you can only delete your personal
files. If you want to remove or reinstall the programs, you should uninstall
them properly.
If you have to
reinstall the system, you must back up all the files first. If you lost data on
system drive for no backup, the data recovery software is your first choice. As
long as you take data recovery measures in the first time to avoid data
overwritten, the chance of your successful data recovery will be greater.
