System restore has been
an important feature in windows to helps us to roll the system files, program
files and registry information to their previous state. If you failed to
restore the system, you can try the following ways.
Try
to restore with other restore points
If you failed to
restore your computer to one of its previous restore point, or the the restore
point has not solved your problem, you can try other restore points.
Go to start menu, type
System Restore, then press Enter to open the system restore window. In the
opened system restore point, you may found an option of Choose a different
restore point. You should check this option and click Next. Check the option of
Show more restore points and click Next. Then you can see all the available
restore point. You can choose the proper restore points to restore the system.
Boot
your computer in safe mode
Sometimes, the system
restore fails for the inference of antivirus software. The antivirus software
running in the background may prevent you to use the system restore to replace
the files. To by pass these background program, you can boot your computer in
safe mode.
Reinstall
system
If the system restore
still does not work in safe mode, you may need to reinstall the Windows system.
If you have no restore points created before the problem occurred, you cannot
fix the problem. As you are unable to restore your system with system restore,
you can only reinstall the system.
To reinstall the
system, you should back up all the data on the system drive. Reinstall system
will delete all the system files, programs, registry information from the hard
drive. Reinstall will not affect your data on other partitions, so you only
need to back up the data on system drive. There are several ways for you to
reinstall system. You can use an installation disc, restore disc, or you can
use the recovery partition you created.
How to restore files from
hard drive?
System restore can only
back up the system files, programs, registry, but not your personal file. It is
used to help you to fix the system problems but not to help you to restore the
data. So you’d better do not save files on the system drive. To reduce data
loss, you should move the files to other partition, and form a good habit of
backup. Once you have data loss, you should stop using the hard drive so that
to reduce data overwritten, and take the data recovery software to get the data
off the drive easily.
