rely on computer, data loss frequently happen, backup of data become vital for
us. Not many people have ever used the Windows built-in backup tool. Many
people use the third-party tool to back up their files. However, if you do not
want to download a software from the Internet, the Windows built-in backup tool
is a good way.
Windows 7 has a
built-in tool called Backup& Restore. You can not only use it to back up
the system and program files, but also your personal files. If you have
accidentally deleted your files, or your computer has problems, you can still
recover files from the hard drive.
How
to use Backup and Restore in Windows 7?
Click Windows button
and input Backup in the search box. Click Backup and Restore to open it.
In the Backup and
Restore page, click the link of Set up backup. The system will automatically
launch the Windows backup. It will take some time to load the backup tool.
After the tool
launched, you are required to select the destination you want to save your
backup. You can choose to back up on internal hard drive partitions or external
hard drive. You’d better to choose back up your files on external hard drive to
secure your data better. You also can choose to save on a network.
Connect your external
hard drive to computer and then click Refresh button, you will find the drive
letter of your external hard drive.
Choose the destination
you want to save backup and click Next.
Then you are given two
back up choices. Let me choose and Let Windows choose. Windows will choose the
files in default Windows folders, desktop. It will not back up your personal
files and files in recycle bin. If you have private file need to back up, you
should choose the option of Let me choose.
Click Next and then
check the files, folders and drive partitions you need to back up. You also can
check the option of Include a system image of drives.
Schedule the backups.
You can set how often do you want to back up. Check the box of Run backup on a
schedule, choose how often, what day and what time to back up. Click OK>
Save settings and run backup.
In the Backup and
Restore Window, you can see the listed backup and details here. In the Restore
part, you will see a link of Select another backup to restore files from. You
can click it to restore from the previous backup.
Use the Windows 7
built-in backup and restore feature will greatly reduce your data loss. But
you’d better to back up them on an external hard drive and other locations in
case the serious physical damage on hard drive. No matter you have data loss on
computer hard drive or external hard drive, recover immediately is necessary.
Try to reduce the data overwritten and try to use the professional data
recovery tool to retrieve them.
