Open iTunes on your computer
and then connect your iPhone with computer.
Click the phone icon in
the software to come to the the backup page.
On the right, click
“Back up Now” to start the backup.
After the backup
process ends, you can check your backup in iTunes Preferences>Devices. You
can see the name of your device with the backup time.
The iTunes backup is
stored on your C drive by default. Therefore, you should not delete it from
your computer, and if you prefer, you can copy it to your external hard drive to
prevent possible data loss on your computer. Also, you can use iCloud backup to
add security of your data.
How to recover data from
iTunes backup?
First, you can restore
directly from iTunes to iPhone
If you want to restore
all your data from backup to iPhone and do not mind the backup to replace all
your data on iPhone, you can choose to restore your data in iTunes. This is
like to restore your iPhone to a former backup so that all the existing data
will be removed and replaced by the backup data.
You can click “Restore
iPhone” in iTunes to restore your iPhone.
Second, you can extract
data from iTunes backup with data recovery software.
If you do not need to
restore all your data in backup, you can choose to extract data from your
iTunes backup. In this way, you need an iPhone recovery software and the
computer which stores your iTunes backup.

Click “View and Restore
files from iTunes backups”. You will see the latest iTunes backups list on the
software. If not, you can click to Refresh, or you can click “Browse For iTunes
Backups” button on the software to choose the backup.
Click “SCAN” button to

After scan, you can see
all types of data in your iTunes backup. Click each type to preview them.
Tick the data you need
to recover and click “Export Selected Records”. You can find these recovered
data on your computer. Then you are free to transfer the recovered data.
