iTunes allows us to
back up and restore iPhone and transfer data between devices. Once we have data
loss, we have to use the iTunes backup to restore. While sometimes, you may
found the iTunes tell us that your backup was corrupt. How can you recover data
from iTunes backup in this situation?
“iTunes could not restore the iPhone and name
because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that is being
restored”.
Why you get this
message: iTunes backup was corrupt or not compatible?
First, your former
backup is unusable. After you back up your iPhone, you should check the backup,
or if you did not successfully back up the iPhone, you will find it corrupt
when you are trying to restore from it.
Second, if you restore
your iTunes backup with incompatible devices,you will receive this message.
Such as you restore your iPhone data to iPad with different iOS device, it is
impossible.
How
to fix this problem and restore backup again?
To fix this issues, you
should delete this existing corrupted or incompatible backup from iTunes. Then
you need to create a new backup and restore to your device.
Run iTunes on your
computer.
Click
Edit>Preferences>Devices, select the device’s backup you need to delete,
and click Delete Backup button.
In addition, you can
delete your iTunes backup by manual in system drive. Go to Drive C and go to
Username>AppData>Roaming>Apple Computer>MobileSync>Backup.
After you delete the
iTunes backup, you need to create a new backup with iTunes and then restore
from it.
With the iTunes backup,
you can restore your iPhone from iTunes at any time. If you do not want to
restore the entire backup to your iPhone, you can choose to extract data from
iTunes backup and then transfer them to your iPhone.
To restore data from
iTunes backup, your backup should be available and usable. You’d better do not
casually delete the iTunes backup from hard drive even if you need to free up
space. You can move them to an external hard drive. To extract data, you need
to use a data recovery software for iOS devices.
Click “View and restore
from iTunes backup”, the software will list all your recently iTunes backups
with time. You can select the device and backup to scan.
Click Scan button on
the software. The software will automatically scan your chosen backup.
After scan, all your
data in backup list here. You can click by contents to preview them decide what
you need to export.
Tick the data you need
to export and click “Export Selected Records”.
Check the recovered
data on your computer, and then transfer them to your iPhone via iTunes.
