Most of Apple users
tend to use iTunes to back up their data on iPhone. And to avoid data reveal,
some of them will encrypt the backup. The problem is that, if they are not good
at remembering password, most likely you have forgotten the password. Then what
can you do to restore your backup?
How
to remove the password for your iTunes backup?
When you back up your
iPhone in iTunes, you will find an option called “Encrypt local backup” in the
Backups part. Select this option, it requires you to enter password to lock the
backup. After you encrypt the backup, you are required to enter password to
unlock the backup. You can change password but you cannot retrieve your
password. The only way is to cancel the password. You just need to strike out
the option “Encrypt local backup”, and enter correct password. The iTunes will
make a new backup without password.
If you forgot the
password, you have to give up this encrypted backup, and create a new backup.
Go to
Settings>General> Restore, and click “Restore all settings”. System will
tell you that restore all the settings will not erase your data on iPhone,
confirm the operation. The iPhone will restore settings automatically and
reboot by itself.
After settings restore
finished, you can connect your iPhone with iTunes to create new backup. Then
you can use the new backup without password.
As we all know that we
can restore data from iTunes backup after data loss, but not everyone know that
restore from iTunes backup will replace all the data on iPhone with this
backup. This just like you restore your iPhone to a certain time point. If you
do not use your latest backup, it means that you will lost some newly added
data on iPhone. Therefore, you are not suggested to directly restore from the
iTunes backup. The best solution is to use an iPhone data recovery software to
restore and extract data from backup.
1.
Install and run H Data iPhone recovery
software on your computer which stores the backup. The software will detect
the iTunes backup if you have recently backed your iPhone to iTunes. If your
iPhone backup does not show up on the software, you can click “Browser For
iTunes Backup” to select the backup you need to restore. You can see the backup
display on the software interface with device name, serial number, backup date
and time.
2.
Choose the correct
backup you need and click the “SCAN”. The software will scan the iTunes backup
for several minutes.
3.
After scan, you will
see all kinds of contents display here with the file numbers. Click the file
type you need to restore, and preview files on the right side to choose what
you want to recover.
4.
Click “Export Selected
Records” to extract the data you need. The extracted data will store in a file
folder in the recovery path you choose on your computer.
