How to recover my files from Excel?

As the wide usage of Excel files in every filed, it’s quite necessary to master this skill. I’m very happy to share with you about the ways to help you recover damaged files from  Excel and the auto-saving function.

1.      Directly recover your files

The latest Excel can directly recover your files.

If your Excel files are just lightly damaged and cannot open, you can use the Excel’s own  auto-saving function to recover it directly. You just need to click the Excel’s additional option “ Open and recover”. The system will automatically check the error existed in excel table. And it will pops up a dialog box for restoration. Click the “ restoration option “ in the dialog box. Then you can restore the excel table you need.

2.      To transfer their format

You can transfer the corrupted excel into other format and then save them.

 We always can do nothing to the excel table which are damaged but still can be opened. The way to restore them is to transform them into another format such as “ XYLK”  when you save them again.

3.      To use the Excel software itself

If your excel tables are corrupted from a sudden power loss, you can restart your computer and run excel. Then the excel will pops up a window “file restoration”. The window have listed all the saved files when the accident happened. You can click the file you need to restore and then recover it.

4.      To open the Excel table by Word

If you cannot open the damaged excel table, you can try to use the  Word.

You can follow these steps:

⑴ Start your Word and choose the excel you need to open. If it’s the first time for your Word to open an excel table, you will see a system hint “ Microsoft word cannot import the format specified as this function is not available. Do you need to install now?” You need to install it before you can open it.

⑵ Choose to recover the entire workbook or a certain sheet as the file type you need to recover.

⑶ You should delete the corrupted data after you have opened the damaged file. And then you need to transform the content in excel table into text. You should execute the demand in navigation bar as “ ‘table’—‘transform’-‘transform table into text’ “. And then choose tabs as text separator in the popping up dialog box.

⑷ Execute a command of  “file—save-as” in the word navigation bar.

⑸ Start your excel, click “file—open”, you can open the file you have just saved.

⑹ And then you can open your file according to the prompts in the Text Export wizard dialog. 

What you should pay attention is that although the content of the file you opened is just the same as the original, you need to reset all the formulas in the table.  And there is possible that you will lost some data.

How to automatically save your excel files?
Is common that we have computer crash or the sudden power cuts. Too bad if you loss all your excel file in that cases as you didn’t set auto-saving for excel.

Fist, open your excel and click “file”, and then click” option”, and  then click “save”. You can see option of intervals for data auto-save and select the location.
