How to recover my files from Word?

Word now is an essential tool for work. And it’s also common for us to lose data for all sorts of reasons.  Many people are not familiar with the functions of Word. When they are faced with files loss or corruption, they don’t know how to get them back.
Here are some method for Word files recovery on the Internet.

1.      Transform the format
You can transform your damaged Word file into other format and then transform it into Word again. This is the most simple way.

2.      To find out your lost Word file
(1) Automatic restoration
Try to use the automatic recovery function of Word itself. Generally it can help to recover your damaged file to its latest save state. But this is come true by using the auto-save function of Word itself. So we should set up ahead of time. We can execute the command of “ Options—save” ,and then to change the default 10 minutes to 5 minutes or other times to make sure that our word can automatically save in short time.
(2) To recover by manual
If you cannot  find the way to automatic restoration, you can try to recover by manual.
Open Word, and choose “file—open” ,and then input “C:\Documents and Settings\The current user name\Application Data
\Microsoft\Word”  in browser box in the window pops up.
Then we can see a automatic file with an .ASD suffix.
Click the “Open” option, to find “Open And Repair” option in its drop-down menu.
And then use “save-as “ to save the restored file.

3.      To reset the format of your content
Open your Word file and use the last paragraph of your text to tag formatting information, especially the section and styling format. And then keep this paragraph in its original file, you can cut the rest of your text to another word document. That may help to keep the damaged in the original document, and save our original data.

4.      Create a new Word template
If the default template file is damaged, your file will also be damaged. You should find out this default hidden file named “Normal.dot” and delete it. Then the system will create a new default template. Then you can open your Word file.

These are the most common ways to help you restore your Word files. Do it by ourselves can be risky. Misoperation may cause more data loss. What I would suggest you do is try to ask suggestions from data recovery specialists before  you do it by yourself.
