Hard disk drive recovery and maintenance skills

1.    Use the windows’ defragmentation tools to regularly defrag your hard disk data. You’d better do it once  a month. That will help to decrease the access time to hard disk. If other problems occurs, it also can improve the chance of data recovery.

2.    Hard disk is a sophisticated device. You should handle it with care. Do not move your host casually after boot. And move it one minutes after computer shut down and the motor has stopped

3.There is only little noise in normal running of hard disk. It has a even tap-tap sound of reading. If there are loud noise when hard disk is running, it is the sigh of failure. Therefore, to backup regularly is very important.

What are the causes for hard disk data loss?

1.    The categories of software failure:

Virus infection, error format or partition, mistaken clone, accident deletion or overwritten, sudden power off in operation, unexpected electromagnetic interference, system error or collapsed.

The software failure always showed as missing of operating system, system cannot boot normally, error reading and writing on hard disk, files missing or cannot be opened, messy code after open files, no partitions, prompting of unformatted on a certain hard disk.

2. Hardware failure:

Hardware failure usually showed as  the system cannot recognize disk with click sound or the motor stop. There are also no sound after powered, the head is not in correct place so that causing read and write errors.

1.    After boot the computer, if the system cannot find the hard  disk and there is no error prompting, as other wires quality problems have be excluded, you can tell for certain that the hard disk is damaged.

2.    It takes a long time to boot, or errors frequent happen when reading a file or running a software, or it needs many times operation to achieve it. And during this time, the hard disk is keep reading and has a harsh noise. That means that the surface or positioning mechanism have problems.

3.    Frequent system failures or crashes blue screen. And after you reformat the hard disk and  install the system again, all  is ok. This is because the hard drive head performance of  amplifiers and data error correction circuit  are  not stable, which resulting in frequent data loss.

4.      When boot, the system can not enter the hard disk boot.  Boot the floppy disk, it can be transferred to hard disk letter, but there is no way to enter. This case is very serious, because the hard disk boot sector may have problems. Or there is no way to re-partition. It is possible for there is no way to write to main boot sector after re-partition.

The hard disk works well. But it has sudden  abnormal sound in normal use, and then cannot  find the hard drive. Wait a moment and to restart computer , it will be able to find the hard disk, and the system can start normally. In that case, you should backup your important data as soon as possible in case completely data loss.
