What is partition?
A partition is a
logical division in hard disk. When you bought a laptop, there is only a partition
C. You can choose to use one partition it or partitioning it to several
partitions such as C,D,E,F,G. Then each partition behave like a separate disk
drive.
Before we
install a system, we should partition the hard disk first so that the hard disk
can restore data.
The purpose of partitions?
1. To
improve your computer’s performance.
2. To
reduce your risk of data loss. The virus infection or failure in one partition
will not affect your data on other partitions. If you reinstall system, the data
on other partitions don’t need to be backed up.
3. You
can use multiple operating systems.
4. Let
you classify and manage your files effectively.
How to re-partition hard drive?
Re-partition hard
drive will let you lost all your data on this partition. Before you re-partition
your hard disk, you should backup your files first.
In Windows 8.1
and 10, you can press Windows key and then input “Disk management” in the
search box.
In Windows 7,
you can press Windows key and input “diskmgmt.msc”, press Enter to access the
disk management.
1.In disk
management windows, right-click the unallocated space, right-click to 2.choose
shrink volume, enter the amount of space to shrink. Click the shrink button.
3.After you
finish the above operations, you will see a new unallocated volume.
4.Right-click
this new unallocated volume and choose new simple volume.
5.Click Next to
set the size of new volume.
6.Click Next to
choose a drive letter for the new volume.
7.Choose to
format or format this partition. And also make sure that you have chosen the
options like file system, allocation unit size.
8.Click Next and
then click finish button.
9.Then you can
see a new drive letter in My computer.
How to recover files from partitions?
If you cannot
restore your files in a lost partition, you should use a Hdata recovery software to
retrieve your deleted files.
