Why files or file folders are hidden?
The Windows system will hide some important files and folders to
prevent users to delete or modify these files. These files are invisible for
us, but we can make them visible by changing the Folder Options.
Another case is the files or file folders are hidden by virus. In
that case, you can use an antivirus software to remove the virus and then
unhide the files.
Ways to find the hidden files
1. Find hidden files in the Folder Options
Click the start menu, type Folder options in the search box to
open the Folder Options. Click the View tab, in the advanced setting section,
find the option of Hidden files and folders, click it and check the box of Show
hidden files, folders, and drives. Click OK.
2. Find hidden files by using CMD
First, you need to use an antivirus software to remove the virus,
and then use the CMD to recover them.
Type CMD in the search box and press enter to open it. Type:
attrib –h- r –s /s d/ E:\*.* and then press Enter. The letter E is the drive
letter. Then you may find your files on the hard drive.
If you suffer a data loss after using the antivirus software, you
should use a data recovery software to recover them.
1. You can recover files from the Windows’ backups.
Press Windows key on keyboard; or click “ start—control panel”
Click “system and security—Backup and Restore”
Choose “Select another backup to restore files from”
For this way, you should have configured the automatic backup
settings before that.
2.Restore from previous version
You can right click a drive, file folder or file, right-click to
choose properties.
Find the folder you lost files after virus attack
