Recycle bin is very important for all computer users. It stores
all deleted files temporarily so that give us a chance to recover the deleted
files during a certain time. Even if you have accidentally deleted a files
before you were aware of that, you can find and restore them from the recycle
bin.
As the recycle bin is very
important to all of us, we should get a deeper understanding about recycle bin.
1. Restore and change the
deleted recycle bin icon
It’s very common that you
will accidentally deleted the recycle bin icon on desktop. How can We restore
the recycle bin icon to the desktop? It’s quiet easy for you.
Right-click the desktop and
choose Personalize from the menu.
Select Themes(in win 10) or
Change desktop icons( in win 7,8), and you will see an option of Desktop icon
settings on the left side, click it.
Check the Recycle bin box
from the listed Desktop icons.
Click Apply, then you can
see the recycle bin icon on the desktop.
Change the icon
Click Change icon button in
the Desktop icons window, then you can choose one icon you prefer as the
recycle bin icon.
2. Change the name of
recycle bin
Click start and input
Regedit in the search box
Press Enter to open the
Registry Editor
Click
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>ShellNoRoam>
MUICache
Find and click this value
sting: @C:\WINDOWS\system32\SHELL32.dll,-8964
Then change the value data :
the default name “recycle bin” to the name you prefer
Click OK to exit the
Registry Editor
3. Custom size of recycle bin
Usually the allocated size
to recycle bin is 10% of each drive. As the files in recycle bin will be
automatically emptied after the recycle bin is full, you need to increase the
size. And if you want increase the free space of your drive partition, you also
can decrease the default size.
Right-click the recycle bin
and choose Properties from the menu
Edit the default value to
which you need.
4. Hide or show the recycle
bin
Just as the method to
restore the recycle bin icon. You should opne the Desktop icon settings,and
then uncheck the Recycle bin box, click apply. You will found that the icon has
been disappear from your desktop.
5. Let deleted files bypass
the recycle bin
If you would like your
deleted files bypass the recycle bin, you can change the settings to disable
the recycle bin. In the recycle bin properties window, please check the option
of Do not remove files from recycle bin. Remove files immediately when deleted.
6. Remove the deletion
confirm box
Uncheck the box of Display
delete confirmation dialog in the Properties of Recycle bin.
7. Empty the recycle bin
There are many ways for you
to empty the recycle bin.
First, you can right-click
the recycle bin icon on the desktop and then choose Empty recycle bin option.
Second, you can open the
recycle bin, choose all files and then delete them.
8. Change the sound of
recycle bin
You can change the sound of
emptying the recycle bin.
Click control panel—Sound
and Audio Devices, right-click to choose properties,and click Sound tab. Choose
the Empty Recycle bin in the Program Events. You can select sound from the
drop-down menu or you can browse to use other sound.
In order to avoid data loss
from recycle bin, you should enable your recycle bin. First, you should uncheck
the option of remove files immediately when deleted, and check the deletion
confirm box. If you don’t want to lose large files, you should change the
custom size of recycle bin so that the deleted large files will not bypass the
recycle bin.
Once you accidentally
emptied your recycle bin, you should stop using your hard drive, and recover
with a data recovery software.
