System restore
As we all know, system restore is used as
a recovery tool in Windows to restore computer to its previous state without
losing the user’s personal files.
System restore can
restore your Windows files, installed programs, registry to previous
backups. The system restore automatically creates a restore point every
twenty-four hours if there are changes in your Windows. As system restore do not back up your personal file, you can’t expect
it can help to recover your personal files. Therefore, system restore is not a
backup tool for you. You should always back up your important data with the
specialized backup tools.
Apparently, the opinion that system restore restore your system without
affecting your personal files is not accurate. It’s true that a system
restore will not delete or replace your personal data. But system restore do
not protect all your files. It protects files according to the file type but
not the locations. So it’s possible that you will lost some of your files after
a system restore action. Therefore, system restore is not a perfect way for you
to fix your computer issues for you will suffer a data loss.
System restore also will affect you
installed applications. If your applications were installed after this restore
point is created, these applications will be uninstalled. Also you cannot
expect that a system restore can help you to get rid of virus or malware.
How to enable the
system restore?
Click start menu and input restore in the
search box.
Click the menu of create a restore point
Click the system protection tab in system
properties, you can configure the protection settings.
Click configure button to choose to turn
on or disable system protection of your disk.
You also can set the disk maximum space
usage for system protection. Once this space is filled, the old restore points
will be replaced. Click OK.
How to create a
restore point?
In the system protection tab, click the
create button.
Type a description to help you figure out
the restore point later.
Click create and then click close.
Can I recover lost files
after a system restore?
The answer is yes. When you found a data
loss after you have restored your system, you don’t need to worry. Do not write
or save any new data to this hard drive to avoid data overwritten. And then
find a professional data
recovery software to retrieve your lost files.
