Sometimes, the system will prompts that your C drive is out of
space, and your computer runs very slow and cannot work normally with the filled
space. In that case, you should free up your C drive.
How to free up the partition C?
Generally, we need to close some of the running programs first. If
this does not improve the performance obviously, you should make a deep clean
for this partition. You can use the system built-in tool named Disk Cleanup to
free up the disk C.
You have two ways to access to this tool:
The first way to access the Disk Cleanup
First, you can click start menu and input the Disk Cleanup in the
research box. Click to open it. In the pops up window, you should choose the
partition C from the drop-down menu, and click OK. It need several minutes to
accumulate the space can be freed up from partition C.
In the opened window “Disk Cleanup for (C) : “, it has worked out
the space you can free up. In the part of Files to delete, you will see some
files. You can check or uncheck the box to determine to delete them or not.
Below that part, it shows the free space you gain after you deleting the
checked files. The Description explains what you are files you checked. You
should pay more attention to delete the files in partition C.
It is suggested that you should only delete these files: Download
Program Files, Temporary Internet Files, Recycle Bin, Temporary Files.
Then click OK. A dialog box then appears :Are you sure you want to
permanently delete these files?
Click Delete Files. Then the files will be deleted and this tool
will be close automatically.
The second way to access Disk cleanup
Open My Computer, and locate the partition C and then right-click
it to choose the properties. You will see a Disk Cleanup button in the
Properties window, click it to open the Disk Cleanup tool.
In the opened up Disk Cleanup Window, the system files are not
listed in the Files to delete part, you should click the button of Clean up
system files if you want to clean up system files.
In the opened window, Click More option, there are two options:
Programs and Features: you can delete the programs you do not need; System
Restore and Shadow Copies: remove all but the most recent restore point.
In addition to the system built-in Disk Cleanup tools, there are
also many other ways which can help you to free up your hard drive partitions.
