How to format a
USB device?
Before you prepare to format your device,
please make sure that you have backed up all your data on your USB device. Or
you will lost all your data after formatting.
First, you need to right-click your USB
device to check the Properties option to know the file system of your device.
Right-click your USB device and choose
Format. In the popping up format windows, you can see several options. It
includes the capacity of your device, File System, Allocation Unit Size, volume
label and format options. Please choose the right files system. A normal format
will remove all the data from this device and scan the bad sectors.
A quick format will erase all your data but do not scan the bad sectors.
How to format a
write protected USB device?
Sometimes you may cannot format your USB
device when it is in write protection.
You can use regedit.exe to format if you
cannot directly format your device.
In windows 7, click or press Windows key,
type regedit in the search box, click the regidit.exe and open the registry
editor. You will see several file folders, choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, and click
“SYSTEM—CurrentControlSet—Control—StorageDevicePolicies”. And double-click the
Write Protect value in the right-hand pane of Regedit.exe. Change the Value
data from 1 to 0 and click OK. Close the Windows and restart your computer.
Connected your decive with computer again, you will find the write protection
has been removed. Then you can format your USB device.
How to enable
write protection on a USB flash disk?
1. Find
the drive letter of your USB flash disk and right-click to select the
properties from the drop-down menu.
2. You
will see a Removable Disk Properties Window, click the Security, in the “Group
and user names, choose Everyone and click the button of Edit.
3. It
will pop up a window named “Permissions for Everyone”, you can see the Allow
and Deny boxes. Check the Deny boxes of “Full Control, Modify, Write”. The your
device has been set to read only.
4. Click Apply and click OK to save
the changes.
How to recover deleted files from
USB device with Hdata recovery software?
First, download the Hdata recovery
software on your computer.
Second, connect your USB device to the
computer. If your device can be recognized by computer, then you can start
recovery.
Third, run the software and click the
button of Deleted Your Files From Flash Disk.
Fourth, the software will automatically
scan your device. After scanning ends, you can preview the results.
Fifth, choose a recovery path to save your
recovered files from USB device.
